Welcome to Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing our website or booking our mobile skate sharpening services, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before using our site or scheduling an appointment.

1. Use of Our Website
You agree to use our website for lawful purposes only. You may not:

2. Booking & Service Availability
By booking a service, you confirm that:

You will be present at the scheduled appointment time

You understand that mobile services may be impacted by weather, emergencies, or traffic
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments when necessary.
3. Mobile Service & Travel Fees
Our skate sharpening service is provided as a mobile service at the client’s location. Travel fees are calculated based on driving distance from our base location in Beachwood, NJ and are added to the service price at checkout.
Travel fees are structured in distance-based tiers and are capped at a maximum of $40. The final travel fee and total price are displayed during checkout before payment is completed.
Driving distance is calculated using mapping software and may vary slightly based on routing. By completing a booking, you agree to the travel fee associated with your service location.
Travel fee tiers are generally structured as follows:

0–5 miles: $0

5–10 miles: $10
-
10–15 miles: $20
-
15–20 miles: $30
-
20+ miles: $40 (maximum)
4. Payments
Unless otherwise stated:

Payment is due at the time of service

Accepted payment methods may include cash, card, or digital payments

Prices may change at any time and may not reflect previous rates

Applicable taxes may be added
5. Cancellation & No-Show Policy
To keep our scheduling fair and efficient for all customers, the following policy applies:
5.1 Cancellations
You may cancel or reschedule your appointment at no charge up to 12 hours before your scheduled service time.
5.2 Late Cancellations
Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the appointment may be subject to a cancellation fee of $5.
5.3 No-Shows
If we arrive at the scheduled location and you are not present—or if we cannot contact you within 10 minutes—the appointment will be considered a no-show, and a no-show fee may apply.
5.4 Repeated Cancellations
Customers with repeated last-minute cancellations or no-shows may be required to prepay for future appointments.
5.5 Weather & Operator Cancellations
If we must cancel due to weather, safety, or equipment issues, you will not be charged any fee, and we will work with you to reschedule promptly.
6. Service Limitations
While we take great care and pride in our work:

Results may vary based on blade condition, skate maintenance, or previous sharpening

We are not responsible for damage caused by prior misuse, poor storage, or existing defects

You are responsible for checking your blades and ensuring your skates are safe to use after service

If you have concerns about your sharpening, please contact us promptly.
7. Intellectual Property
All website content—including images, text, graphics, and branding—is owned by Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening unless otherwise noted.
You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any content without our written permission.
8. Third-Party Services

14. Assumption of Risk, Release of Liability & Indemnification
14.1 Assumption of Risk
You acknowledge and agree that ice skating, hockey, and the use of sharpened skates inherently involve risks, including but not limited to: falls, collisions, loss of control, blade malfunction, equipment failure, and injuries to yourself or others. You understand that these risks exist regardless of the quality of sharpening or maintenance, and you voluntarily assume all risks associated with the use of your skates after service.
You further acknowledge that the condition of your equipment (including blades, holders, boots, and mounting hardware) prior to sharpening may affect safety and performance, and that Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening is not responsible for identifying or repairing pre-existing defects or damage.
14.2 Condition of Equipment
By presenting your skates for sharpening, you confirm that:

Your equipment is safe, functional, and free of structural defects

You are solely responsible for ensuring your skates are suitable for sharpening

You will inspect your skates after sharpening and before skating
Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening is not liable for issues arising from:

Rusted, cracked, or previously damaged blades

Worn or loose holders

Boot defects
-
Broken rivets or hardware
-
Improper storage, transport, or maintenance of skates
14.3 Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening, its owners, operators, employees, contractors, or affiliates for any and all claims, damages, injuries, losses, or liabilities arising out of or related to:

Your use of skates after sharpening

Accidents, falls, or injuries occurring before, during, or after skate use

Normal or abnormal risks associated with ice skating or hockey

Mobile service conditions occurring at your chosen location

Any equipment-related issues not caused by gross negligence on our part
This release applies to all claims, whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, including claims based on:

Product or service performance

Failure to warn

Assumed or alleged defects in sharpening
14.4 No Guarantees
You understand and agree that skate sharpening is a subjective service and that:

Performance may vary based on blade condition, profile, hollow, and prior sharpening history

Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening does not guarantee performance outcomes

You are responsible for determining whether the sharpening meets your personal skating needs
14.5 Customer Responsibility
You agree to:

Inspect your skates before use

Test them in a safe manner before engaging in full activity

Refrain from using skates that appear unsafe after sharpening

Inform us promptly if you believe an issue exists
Failure to follow these steps constitutes acceptance of the service as delivered.
14.6 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening from any claims, damages, injuries, liabilities, or expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from:

Your use or misuse of your skates after sharpening

Any third-party injuries involving your skates

Pre-existing equipment defects not disclosed prior to service

Misconduct, negligence, or unsafe actions by you or anyone using your equipment
This indemnification obligation survives termination of your relationship with us.
14.7 Mobile Service Environment
You understand and acknowledge that services may be performed outdoors, in driveways, parking lots, event spaces, or other mobile locations. You assume all risks associated with:

Weather
-
Lighting
-
Environmental hazards

Third-party interference
You agree that Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening is not responsible for injuries, damages, or inconveniences arising from the chosen service location.
14.7.01 Service Location Restrictions
To comply with facility rules and avoid interference with rink-operated pro shops, Jersey Shore Skate Sharpening does not perform sharpening services within rink-owned parking lots or private property unless prior written permission is granted by the facility.
Customers agree to meet at nearby public locations for rink-day appointments.
14.8 Legal Enforceability
If any portion of this section is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect to maximize legal protection. This waiver is intended to be construed broadly to the fullest extent permitted by state law.
